Long Live, MBHY

Long Live, MBHY is the debut EP by Filipino-American composer and sound artist
Mark Kent Navarro. The project blends ambient, post-minimalism, field recordings, and experimental composition. Each track is named after a Baltimore street Navarro once called home, woven with real sounds from those neighborhoods: the hum of a block, passing cars, birds, and the textures of everyday life.
“MBHY,” an abbreviation of mabuhay, the Tagalog expression that translates to “long live”, reflects the duality of Navarro’s experience as a Filipino-American:
fluent in feeling, fragmented in tongue.
The EP explores tension of through a palette of synthesis, piano, guitar, bass, and environmental sound, blurring the line between the remembered and the real.

" Field recordings, instruments, and synthesis woven from streets I once called home.
A document of place, held in memory. "
